Walking
The area around Oban has a variety of opportunities for walking
and hiking. It is not surprising in an area of such natural beauty
that wonderful views of the sea and surrounding islands can be reached
without too much effort.
For the less ambitious walker there is an endless choice of leisurely
walks around Oban and on the surrounding Isles. Wander along a beach,
by a castle or amongst the flora and fauna on a forest trail.
Those on more serious walking holidays may well be keen to bag
a Munro or two and again there are many to choose from. Ben Cruachan
which stands over Loch Awe and Ben More on Mull are amonst the most
popular in the local area.
For those who wish to venture deeper into the Highlands, Glencoe,
Ben Nevis and the Mamores will provide serious hill walking and
climbing. The moutains are amongst the most challenging in Scotland
and should only be attempted by fully equipped and experienced climbers.
